We are pleased to share our new publication in Science Advances, entitled: “Structural basis of Pseudomonas biofilm-forming functional amyloid FapC formation.”
This collaborative study combines nuclear magnetic resonance, cryo-electron microscopy, and all-atom molecular dynamics simulations to investigate FapC, an amyloid protein that helps maintain bacterial biofilms. The structural experiments define the fibril architecture, while simulations examine changes between monomeric and assembled states. Together, the findings provide a structural and mechanistic foundation for understanding how FapC supports biofilm formation.
